at the heart of the kitchen is a wood-charcoal grill, where our kitchen team fast-cook seafood just caught from rye bay, local meats and vegetables.
For breakfast, have poached eggs and smashed avo on sourdough, buttermilk pancakes with blueberries, or ‘The Full George’? Work your way through our delicious menu, served from 8am to 10am every day of the week.
The sights and sounds of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve this past month.
A gull is never far away, but there is an abundance of other bird life, like cormorants, curlews and egrets and so many butterflies, all dancing with one another during their mating season.
A breeding colony of Terns is especially noisy at this time of year with all the birds fishing and fighting to bring food back for the chicks which are easy to spot with a pair of binoculars.
Whether you go for the flora and fauna or simply to enjoy the vast expanse of open space and sea air, it’s a brilliant place to visit when in Rye.
Catch a bus, walk for an hour or drive 10 mins - the car park is free and the reserve is dog-friendly - you just need to keep them on a short lead.

Frances Knight is on keyboard and Stephen Bridgland is on guitar.
Frances’s projects are eclectic and diverse, ranging from jazz and blues through to improvised music and Argentinian Tango.
She is a prolific songwriter who has been awarded the European Musicians Federation songwriting prize.
On her own record label, Mandeville Records, she’s had tracks played on the BBC, Jazz FM and abroad.
Stephen’s jazz guitar playing is rich and resonant and brings a lot of joy.
We can’t wait for you to enjoy their music.. in the courtyard - weather willing! 🌞🤞

As you move through its labyrinthine corridors of foliage, where plants, trees and flowers are layered on top of each other in the most mesmerising way, you feel that this is not like any garden you’ve been to before.
The sense of height and depth and variety at every glimpse...
It invites you to get lost; to ask ‘what’s this?’ a billion times and to marvel at the myriad ways of viewing and smelling and being in an outdoor space.
Designed by the renowned and revolutionary gardener Christopher Lloyd, it is around 20 minutes drive away from Rye, and well worth a visit.
