In case you missed our newsletter, here are the headlines for October in Rye..

- Rye’s famous Bonfire Pageant - a unique spectacle which predates Guy Fawkes attempting to blow up Parliament by a few hundred years - the bonfire of the boat at the end references how the Rye townsfolk preferred to set fire to their own ships than have them captured by their French invaders - the fiery procession, ending in fireworks over the Marsh, comes past The George - due to large crowds we will only be admitting Dragon card members on the night, so be sure to bring yours with you and show it at the door on the night - Saturday 9 November

- WIN a Night at the Opera - in aid of @ryelawntennisclub we are giving away 2 x tickets to the annual concert which this year features alumni of the Jette Parker section of the Royal Opera House - also included in the prize is a dinner for two at The Grill restaurant at The George - enter by midnight Sunday - event is on Saturday 30 November

- Checking-in with the man behind ‘no. 98’, our house secret scent - if you ever wondered how The George smells so divine, meet Michael Beatt in our blog - he’s the owner of @hunterjonesstore - just a short walk from The George, where you’ll find all sorts of homeware accessories, which have developed quite the fan base.

- New cocktail menu - the latest warming concoctions include a smooth and smoky Barrel-aged Boulevardier or for the 007’s amongst you, why not try a Kentish Vesper Martini, made with local spirits and a punchy orange note. For a non-alcoholic option, it’s got to be Peach of A Dragon.

- Loving ode to Rye, the South Coast and The George - after a recent stay, Greg Dickinson, The Telegraph’s Senior Travel Writer, wrote a glowing review of the area and our hotel, which you can find via the website.
