at the heart of the kitchen is a wood-charcoal grill, where our kitchen team fast-cook seafood just caught from rye bay, local meats and vegetables.
For breakfast, have poached eggs and smashed avo on sourdough, buttermilk pancakes with blueberries, or ‘The Full George’? Work your way through our delicious menu, served from 8am to 10am every day of the week.
With a heady mix of reflection, revelry & community spirit, November in and around Rye is all about warmth — the glow of bonfires & fireworks, the shared quiet moment of remembrance and the sparkle of festive markets.

🔥 Rye Fawkes Night - an historic procession which actually predates Guy Fawkes’s attempt to blow up parliament - culminating in a huge bonfire on The Salts & an explosive fireworks display across the Marsh. PLEASE NOTE - due to huge visitor numbers, The George is only open to Dragon card holders & hotel guests on the night, so be sure to bring your card or have made your fireside reservation! - Sat 15 Nov
⛪ A Remembrance Memorial will display 10,000 handmade poppies from St Mary’s church tower in nearby Battle. 10 months in the making by the local community, an 84 ft net will stretch down to the foot of the tower to commemorate 80 years since the end of WW2. For November. #LestWeForget
🖋️ New ‘Pillow Poetry’ collaboration with Rye Harbour Writers - a group of 14 local poets & writers who have created 24 individual poems for guests of The George.
🪩 Rye Discotheque - our Community Centre will be transformed, for one night only, into disco heaven with three live DJs, spinning everything from 70s disco anthems, to funk & soul classics - Sat 29 Nov, 7-11.30pm
🎄 FOUR Christmas Markets - Winchelsea on Sat 15 Nov - for browsing artisan stalls. Icklesham - on Sat 22 Nov - for its famous antiques, vintage ware & seasonal gifts. Udimore on Sat 29 Nov for hand-made decorations, wreaths & for meeting Father Christmas & his donkey!
