at the heart of the kitchen is a wood-charcoal grill, where our kitchen team fast-cook seafood just caught from rye bay, local meats and vegetables.
For breakfast, have poached eggs and smashed avo on sourdough, buttermilk pancakes with blueberries, or ‘The Full George’? Work your way through our delicious menu, served from 8am to 10am every day of the week.

We honestly had THE best hosts showing us around their hometown, Arabella, co-founder of dreamy natural fragrance brand @verden.world and Katie, owner of the chicest hotel in Rye @thegeorgeinrye. Bathed in sunshine, the town’s charm immediately swept us all away.
We wandered the cobbled streets, scoffed so much delicious seafood, and explored the abundance of vintage and antique shops. @mrs_trufflepig knows all the best places!
A highlight was visiting @lambhouse_nt Lamb House, once home to author Henry James, and later to Rumer Godden. Steeped in literary history, with a stunning flower filled garden.
From the top of the church tower, we soaked up the breathtaking views over the rooftops to the sea. We didn’t make it to the beach this time, but next time I’m going in 🌊
After an afternoon on our feet, Yin Yoga in the hotel’s beautiful ballroom was such a treat. My first time doing that too!
Dinner at The Chef’s Kitchen was unforgettable—local scallops and asparagus perfectly cooked, washed down with local English fizz 🐚🥂
This morning, we made our way to @greatdixterofficial for a house and garden tour. The creativity and colour blew me away. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Basically my dream 24 hours, with the loveliest hosts and incredible company from this truly lovely group of women. And Rye, well it’s truly captured my heart ❤️

“On my way home from a magical 24 hours in Rye, East Sussex hosted by my fabulously talented friend Arabella and her brand @verden.world
We were celebrating the arrival of Verden to @thegeorgeinrye - a colourful and beautifully curated boutique hotel in the heart of Rye town. I’m not sure whether it was the spectacular weather that made it all so special - clear blue skies, glorious sunshine, proper warmth on our skin - or perhaps it was the fine wine and delicious food that gave me that heady feeling of pure happiness.
Maybe it was the joyous company of people I’ve known and loved for years or the introduction of new friends for life who made me laugh until I cried… (that’s YOU Katie!)
It was certainly the abundance of flowers in vintage vessels reminding me of home and perhaps in part due to the luxurious bubble bath I squeezed in before bedtime - how can one resist diving feet first into a brass empire style bateau bath filled with Verden scented bubbles - I couldn’t!
Whatever it was, I am currently staring out of a train window on my way home feeling content, refreshed and with a full heart - and smelling rather lovely indeed I must say!
Two things I’ll leave you with - please visit Rye and the surrounding countryside - it’s stunning - filled with oast houses and Sussex barns and glorious views of the sea next to rolling hills. Stay at the @thegeorgeinrye if you can or at least eat there, and try to see as many rooms as you can - I promise you it’s a feast for the eyes and Katie’s background as a film and tv set designer clearly shines through.
Secondly, please check out the candles and bodycare range at @verden.world - I’m already obsessed by @votarylondon - Ary’s other ‘baby’ and this is equally as delightful.”
