The George Grill restaurant in Rye serves a modern European grill menu using the best available local ingredients.
At the heart of the kitchen is our wood-charcoal grill, where our chefs cook freshly-caught seafood from Rye Bay, the finest Scottish Aberdeen steaks, local Romney Marsh lamb, and seasonal vegetables from our farmer in Boughton Monchelsea, Kent.
With our Latino head chef bringing a twist of spices and creativity, we offer a luxurious lunch and dinner menu in an environment of professional informality, which locals enjoy as much as our hotel residents.
Lunch is served daily from 12-3pm
Dinner is served daily from 5-9pm(9.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays)
Stunning meal and ambience in this thoughtfully restored hotel in the heart of Rye. Delicious seafood including sea bream, whitebait (try it!) and clams sofrito rice. Reasonably priced and friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch!

Very welcoming and classy. Our service was tremendous and an experience in itself. I got the 10oz aged ribeye with the bearnaise sauce that I highly recommend! I would certainly recommend booking a table here for dinner if you are visiting Rye.

I had a wonderful dinner, great service. The hosts and waiters were super friendly and very attentive. I had the wild rice with black garlic and mushrooms, it was spectacular. I also had the padron peppers for a starter. Would definitely recommend. Thank you!

Beautiful interior and superb food accompanied by best local and international wines. We had some fresh oysters, 2 glasses of Chapel Down and Gusbourne sparkling wines then lamb accompanied by Primitivo and Tempranillo. Perfect evening.

We’re proud of our extensive wine list featuring wines from all over the world. English wine is the great success story of recent years, and we have some of the country’s leading wine producers on our doorstep; Chapel Down, Gusborne, Nyetimber, Charles Palmer, Hush Heath and Bolney are just some of the names you will find on our wine list.
Our fish comes from Paul Hodges, who has over 30 years in the fishing trade. Certified under the Marine Stewardship Council, Paul is one of the few fish merchants that carry this tough accreditation for sustainable fish, and is based at Rock-a-Nore, Hastings.
The steak served in our grill is sourced from highly-reputed butchers and Royal Warrant holders Donald Russell, who specialise in traditionally hung meat from grass-fed British cows.
We source fresh, seasonal food from local growers and producers wherever possible. Much of our fruit and veg is delivered personally by Rye fruiterer and local character, Brett Johnson, from his shop just down the road. This quality produce is mainly grown in local gardens and farms.
Our pretty Courtyard Garden is open throughout the summer months, day and evening until 10pm. It is available for eating and drinking on a first-come, first-served basis.

Is the George Grill accessible?
Yes, we do our best to make our restaurant accessible for all. A table near the door can be arranged for easy access, and most chairs are non-fixed. Chairs with arms and large print menus are available on request. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome.

Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant itself, but are welcome in our bar and terrace areas.
