On the lamp... Katie picked this up in a Deal vintage shop, after seeing it in the window and thinking “that looks like John Izod’s work”!
John Izod was Rye royalty.. a real character who was a regular at The George as well as a talented artist, actor and raconteur who painted these Rye boats.
He was a well-loved and active member of the community and so we had to find a home for this lamp at The George.
Shoutout to Davina @mileagevintagedeal whose treasure trove of things included the lamp and the painting shown here.
