Tracey Davies reviews The George in Rye on the Telegraph online…
“This charming 16th-century inn in the Cinque Port town of Rye is a real delight. Inside, there’s an atmospheric locals’ bar, a rash of vintage-chic rooms and a modern gastropub restaurant. No wonder it’s a firm favourite of Hollywood movie stars.”
“The young team offer a friendly, genuine service as they skitter around the bar and dining room in a casual breton-slash-Converse uniform. Facilities include The Tap bar with its cosy snugs and secluded courtyard, and a chichi gift and interiors shop called The Shop Next Door, where you can pick up many of the hotel’s most covetable pieces, such as fish jugs, mohair throws and Ren products”.
