Greetings after this fine autumn day. If you haven’t already, do hook up with us if you’re on Facebook so you can be kept in the loop of news and special offers: facebook.com/thegeorgeinrye.

Rye is said to be one of the most haunted towns in England, and it’s certainly a beautifully evocative setting for Halloween. If you’re after some family time away at the end of Half Term, we are running a Halloween Package on the last weekend of October, a one or two night break (your choice) which brings together a frightfully good combination of a ghosty afternoon tea, and a haunted walk at dusk around Rye which is suitable for children. The Package also includes dinner on one evening of your stay, and we do have interconnecting rooms, subject to availability. Find out more here, and remember, we unfortunately don’t have broomstick parking in the hotel, though you’re welcome to leave them at the main car park.

Planning further ahead, we’ve just put our Christmas break online if you’re planning your festivities and would enjoy having Dickensian Rye as your base. What with midnight mass and mulled wine at the medieval Great St Mary’s church, cosy log fires, and post-lunch walks around the cobbled town, you should be set up for a wonderful family celebration. The George is also fast becoming known for feeding our guests extremely well on these occasions, as you’ll see from the package information.

While we’re on Christmas, an advance heads up that the wonderful Great Dixter Christmas fair takes place on the 27th – 28th November, when the house and gardens will transform their Great Halls, barns and outbuildings into a really quirky market selling unusual Christmas gifts. Highly Recommended.

With Best Wishes
Alex & Katie Clarke
