Intrigued by the idea of a last-minute getaway and love your food? Next week, we are offering some super rates for two, three or four night stays taken between Monday 18th to Thursday 21st October. Enjoy free dining in our restaurant as well as a ticket to The George in Rye’s six course Gourmet dinner on Thursday night. This feast of Roman proportions is our event for the Taste of Rye festival, which takes place all of next week for all sorts of lovely tastings, demonstrations and food markets. If you want a you can find out more and book here.

New Year at The George in Rye is always popular, especially our legendary parties which are available to hotel residents and non-residents. Last year’s Speakeasy theme went down a storm and it looked as though the Ballroom had been taken over by a troop of flappers (that may not be the correct collective noun…).

This year, fast forward 30 years to the late 1950s, and get ready for a celebration Ratpack style, as we pay tribute to Hollywood, to martinis, to music and to Vegas. Please don your sharpest suits and your cocktail dresses (some inspiration in the pic, right). The evening will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by a three course dinner and dancing to our live Ratpack band playing a stonking tribute to Frank Sinatra, et al.  You can get your tickets to the party here. Be quick! And we have also just put our Christmas Lunch menu online, for those who fancy a festive time in Rye – after all, The Sunday Times has named The George one of the eight best Christmas hotels.

On Saturday 13th November Rye plays host to a Sussex speciality, the annual Bonfire Procession where you will witness some of the most incredible costumes of your life, never mind the fireworks! Hundreds of participants in regalia will make their way through the town, bearing firelit torches which cast mysterious shadows, until they come to the Normous Bonfire where the evening culminates with a firework display. If you’re staying with us that weekend, you’ll be in the heart of the action.

With Best Wishes

Alex and Katie Clarke
