Greetings Georgians,

We are thrilled to let you know that we are teaming up with the NSPCC again to offer one lucky winner the opportunity to run in the 2017 London Marathon AND we will provide £1,000 of sponsorship!

2017 marks the 30th anniversary of NSPCC’s Childline service and all the sponsorship* raised by this place will go towards Childline.

Launched by Esther Rantzen in 1986, Childline is a free 24-hour counselling service for children and young people in the UK.  With 12 counselling centres around the UK, Childline deals with any issue which causes distress or concern, including child abuse, bullying, mental illness, parental separation or divorce, pregnancy and substance misuse.

The online ballot for the 2017 Marathon has now closed, but if you missed it, you may still have the opportunity to run!  Please email us at [email protected] giving your name, your phone number, when you last visited us, a reason why we should choose you and how you anticipate raising your sponsorship. Entries need to be in by midnight on Sunday 23rd October and the lucky winner will be announced on 1st November.

*There is a £100 administration fee to be paid to the NSPCC by the winning entrant.   The NSPCC require £2,200 of sponsorship of which The George in Rye will provide £1,000. The winner will need to complete the NSPCC’s application form and the NSPCC will need to be satisfied that the winning entrant will raise the required funds.

Whilst writing, we’d also like to take the opportunity to tell you about two world-class concerts planned for Thursday 8th and Friday 9th December from team behind the Rye Jazz Festival. The concerts will take place in St Mary’s Church, Rye and names include Rick Wakeman, Mica Paris and the London Community Gospel Choir! There will be a pre-concert supper available at The George in Rye on Thursday 8th. Further details are available here –

With best wishes
