Greetings Georgians

We hope you’ve been weathering the recent storms – both political and literal! Here in Rye, our terrace has been busy with guests making the most of the sunshine when they can. Cocktails are proving to be extremely popular. ‘English Garden’ is a current favourite – gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and apple juice on ice – shaken, not stirred!

Some advantages to our blustery summer is the amazing kite surfing on offer down at Camber Sands – if you are into some serious thrill-seeking then why not try our kitesurfing package which starts at £169.50 per person, based on two people sharing a Superior room, and includes our famous George breakfast, a six-hour kitesurf lesson with the Kitesurf Centre and dinner in The Grill!

If a more leisurely outdoor activity is more your speed, you might be interested in Wild Feast’s Summer Forage Cook and Eat Experience on the 25th July. You will discover how to identify wild herbs, greens, flowers and seeds and use them to create delicious dishes. For further information please contact Sarah via the website.

Over in The Shop Next Door, we’ve just taken delivery of more colourful gluggle jugs which are flying off the shelves. Our bucket barbecue is ideal for picnics on the beach over the school holidays and these gorgeous ponchos (pictured) must be on every little girl’s wish list.

Now in its fourth year, the Rye Jazz festival takes place over the August bank holiday, with performances from the legendary Mica Paris, Lianne Carroll and Joe Stilgoe in the beautiful setting of St Mary’s Church. Later, in September, the Arts Festival returns to Rye – a wonderful collection of literary, music and special events.

We hope to see you over the summer.

With best wishes
Alex & Katie Clarke
