We’ve been thinking it’s about time we throw a bit of a party, and let’s face it, there’s no better time than December 31st.

This year get ready to be one of the Beautiful and the Damned at our 1920’s Speakeasy New Year Ball. Yep, Chicago’s coming to Rye.

Think bootleg gin (er, aka Gordon’s), Great Gatsby, long pearl necklaces, feather boas, flapper dresses and suits. Spatz are optional but positively encouraged.

The New Year’s Break is only £140 per person which includes one night’s accommodation, a full English Breakfast on New Year’s day to ward off hangovers, and most importantly, the New Year’s Eve event. The evening will begin with cocktails (what else?), then a 1920’s inspired Three Course dinner in the ballroom, and yes, dancing to a live Jazz band.

The next day you are presented with several options depending on your energy levels – sit by the fire and get into a book (maybe a bit of F. Scott Fitzgerald to continue the theme), or if you’re feeling sprightly, head down to the beach for some fresh salty air. If you can’t bear to leave or want to get here early for a longer break, you can extend your stay by a night for £50 per person. Find out all about the break here.

Working backwards from New Year, don’t forget we are also taking bookings for Christmas which includes all you can think of for a magical stay: mulled wine, carols, a pub quiz, presents, a Boxing Day Treasure Hunt and of course the food.  Rooms are going extremely quickly for our three night break over the festive period, so if you’d like to come, don’t leave it too late or there’ll just be a lump of coal in your stocking! All the details are here.

And finally, as our longtime newsletter subscribers will know by now, East Sussex has a real love of bonfire night processions all through November and Rye is no exception. If you’re up for some serious fireworks and a beautiful evening parade throughout the town, then put Saturday 14th November in your diary, it’s one of the highlights of the year in Rye.

Best wishes
Alex and Katie Clarke
