Dear Georgians

Calling all fans of feasting and revelry. We’re coming over a bit themed at the end of October, as we throw a Medieval Banquet for Rye’s Wild Boar Festival, on the evening of Tuesday 29th October. There will be lots of game, not just boar but grouse, too. We are also ordering in plentiful supplies of ale and mead (plus wine, spiced of course), and during the feast Smugglers Tales will perform a theatre-dinner about the notorious Hawkhurst Gang, who used to terrorise the local area. This event WILL include a mock trial but after some mead you’ll be delighted to be on the jury. Tickets to the event are just £35 and you can see more about the evening, on our website. Wild Boar Week is fast becoming as big as February’s Scallop Festival, and one of our favourite events is Mike’s Boar Woodland tour, where you can go and see a mud-bath used by local boar. Just don’t get in, it’s not a rolltop.

If you’re taking steps to make arrangements for Christmas and New Year then as always, the doors are open at The George for home-away-from-home breaks. All the classics are in place for you to enjoy with your friends and family, rather than imposed, organised fun: plenty of mulled wine, carols, Boxing Day walks on the sand-dunes, and of course Christmas lunch. On Christmas Eve you might even have time to pop into the Shop Next Door, our new retail space, for last-minute presents. We’re also resuming our New Year’s Eve celebrations including our favourites, The Rock ‘n Roll Society, who will be playing music for us to dance to as 2014 makes its entrance.
