To help imagine life beyond the freezing weather, dark days and disinclination to go anywhere, it’s time to start getting in the mood for love. Happily, this year February 14th falls on a Sunday, so we thought we’d offer a two night weekend Valentine’s stay which gives you plenty of opportunities to snuggle up and get romantic.

Choose either a Friday and Saturday, or Saturday and Sunday nights break, which includes a four course romantic dinner in our Regency Ballroom (very Georgette Heyer) breakfast in bed should you wish, and a bottle of Damask Rose bath oil from Ren. Girls, if we were you, we’d just take the bath oil for yourselves…

Some suggestions on romantic things to do while you’re here:
1. Put on your thermal underwear (!) and have a bracing walk on the beautiful Camber Sands.

2. As well as Rye, go explore some of the other Cinque Port towns and villages. Our favourite is the extremely beautiful Winchelsea.

3. Take a stroll around the Old Town at Hastings, which is full of little lanes ans independent shops. If you stay on for the evening, try dinner at the Thai Cafe and Bookshop, a 2nd hand bookshop by day and Thai restaurant by night, where you dine at a candlelit table amongst the bookshelves.  Surreal but great.

Our valentines break starts at  £190 per person, all included. Find out more and book it in here.

Since we’ve opened, many of you have made the annual pilgrimage to the Rye Bay Scallops Food Festival. Every year, it just gets bigger, and if you’re a seafood fan, it’s a must, so put the last week of February in your diary.  On Thursday 25th we are hosting a special Scallops Gourmet Dinner. Starting with a glass of bubbly, the evening is basically a gastronomic blowout with five courses and wines to match each course. We’re particularly looking forward to tasting Scallop Carpaccio with Lime, which our chef Rod is creating for one night only. The full stay with dinner and wines is £115 per person, including an upgrade to a deluxe double room. You can see the full festival programme here.

We’ve been on twitter for a while at @thegeorgeinrye, where you can get our latest updates and say hello. We’ll also be using twitter to promote some great rates on last-minute rooms, so follow us if you want to be first past the post…

Best Wishes
Alex & Katie Clarke
