This month we’re really happy to report some great press coverage – it’s showoff time! We’ve been voted one of the 50 best hotels in the UK by The Independent (and one of the best for food), while House & Gardens reports that “The George oozes youth, sex and character.” Oo-er missus!

Winter is very nearly over, and we’re delighted to report that there are some lovely goings-on around Rye to celebrate the unfolding of spring. Come stay with us for a relax and choose some of the following events to enjoy:

If you want to plan a getaway, then Mayday, Mayday: over both May Bank Holiday weekends, we are offering 4 nights of the price of 3. Come away as a pair, and you pay from just £270 each for the whole stay, including breakfasts. To see more about this insanely good jaunt, head here.

We haven’t mentioned this before, but there is an Observatory a short drive away in Herstmonceux, which hosts occasional ‘late’ events where you can enjoy their exhibits, and if it’s a clear night, partake in a little star spotting out on the lawn. We’re especially excited about their evening on April 24th; the planets will be aligned and so you’ll have the rare chance to see Venus, Saturn and Mars, aided by the Wealden Astronomical Society! Find out more on their website.

Finally, if you want to get away from the intoxication of chocolate for a country walk to work it off, we are open for lunch and dinner over Easter. Rye’s medieval church St Mary runs a lovely service on Easter Sunday, just up the road from us on the top of the hill.

That should be enough to see you through into the first days of spring,

Best wishes
Alex & Katie Clarke
