Born and raised in Brazil, our chef Rodrigo Grossmann came to London in 2000 and joined the kitchen of the restaurant
Moro, where as Sous Chef ran the brigade. The restaurant, owned by husband and wife Sam & Sam Clark, quickly became legendary, and introduced a whole new vocabulary into British kitchens: the food of the
Islamic Mediterranean - southern Spain, north Africa and Turkey. In 2006, Rod joined The George in Rye as Head Chef to set up and has led the kitchen ever since, his priority always being to use local ingredients and to celebrate the food of the season. Rod's menus are modern Mediterranean and feature lots of fresh fish, gutsy seasonings and seasonal fruit and vegetables. His is bold food that sings in the mouth. Rod lives in Tunbridge Wells with his wife and twin sons.
