The Kitchen

The food is very much at the heart of the offering at the George, defining the personality of the business and setting us aside from other UK hotels.

We source the best local ingredients we can find for example, lamb from the farms of Romney Marsh, fish from our supplier’s trawler in Hastings – always sourcing according to season when available. These excellent ingredients are predominantly prepared using our Josper charcoal oven which gives our grill items their distinctive taste and helps differentiate us. Apart from the focus on ingredients, we prepare dishes that are simple yet packed with great flavours, generously presented and with a focus on our grill section. The menu draws from mainly British influences with some Mediterranean favourites. We have an open pass in “The Grill” and want guests to experience the positive working atmosphere of the kitchen as part of their experience.

The kitchen services a number of different areas of the business: guest breakfasts, bar and conference lunches, the restaurant, room service and banqueting/weddings. The property comprises a bar (50 seats), restaurant (30 seats), outside terrace (35 seats) and ballroom (100 seats). Our High Street location provides a good opportunity to capture walk-in business; we also anticipate demand from hotel guests and developing a strong banqueting and wedding business.

As a member of the kitchen you will work well as a member of a team that is very much customer-focused from an operational point of view. All roles in the kitchen report in to the F&B Manager.
